What is an eSIM

Technology

An eSIM is a chip in your device (a phone, a tablet, etc.). This technology allows you to download the profile of a cellular operator directly to the device "over the air", without the need to install a plastic card. After purchasing the tariff, you will receive a QR-code, for which you will need internet access (for example, with your existing SIM or wi-fi), in order to load the new operator's profile data into the eSIM. If you are going abroad, please follow these steps before you leave - the new operator in the desired country will be activated automatically then. Or make sure that you'll have access to wi-fi in your destination country at least once, to download the data of the new operator.

Convenience

The technology also allows you to use the profiles of several operators on one device (for example, a phone). You can have one active operator profile for your plastic SIM to make regular calls, and another profile would be then loaded into an eSIM (for example, to surf the Internet in another country or another network) – all at the same time. You can choose on your phone, which profile will be used for which type of communication – separately or at the same time. Before purchasing an eSIM tariff, make sure to check if your device supports this technology.

FAQ

If you activated or purchased a SIM or eSIM in Telegram - click on the M8 menu button to the left of the message input field in the chat - your PA (Personal Account) will open. If you did it on the website with email authorization - open the app on the website at https://web.m8.tel and log in in the Account section - via email.

Open your PA - using the method you chose when activating or purchasing the SIM or eSIM. There you will see an image of your SIM card, on the left there will be information about the traffic balance, on the right - a blue 'Add Traffic' button.

A SIM card may not work only in one case: if there were incorrect phone settings (either you used and incorrectly configured the second SIM in the phone, or the phone did not take or used APN settings for a SIM that was previously in the phone).

You cannot get a refund for the eSIM itself after its issuance. The eSIM contains network authentication data that cannot be returned, resold, or transferred to another person. After receiving the QR code, only you can transfer it to another person.

Traffic is purchased only as part of a bundle - with a specific volume, validity period, and cost. If the bundle is activated, the remaining traffic cannot be returned or frozen, it can only be used under the specified conditions. If the bundle was not activated - it can be used during the SIM card's lifetime (for example, on your next trips). You can also give someone your plastic SIM card with this bundle or an eSIM as a QR code, if it hasn't been used yet and the eSIM hasn't been loaded into your phone.

Our SIMs do not have a phone number. Only internet is provided, and only in the country for which this SIM or eSIM is intended.

Internet tethering on our SIMs is not prohibited. It is configured on the phone. You can search online for videos on how to set up your specific phone model for internet tethering to other devices.

The SIM or eSIM will be blocked after 12 months if it does not connect to the network in the country for which it is intended.

Which devices support eSIM
For any iOS device and some Android devices - dial #06# on the phone keypad, if the EID number is displayed, the device supports eSIM. Any other letters with numbers do not mean support. You can also use the eSIM search function on the phone itself - phones with support will have Add eSIM or Enable eSIM sections.
!Please note the next to the model name! This means that the model may be found in different packages! Before paying for the eSIM and package, please make sure that your device is at least on this list and that your operator does not block the use of eSIM. Keep in mind that the list below is indicative and means only that a model in a certain configuration may support eSIM, and that the list is not complete and is being updated as new devices are manufactured and released on the market. DESCRIPTION OF THE SERVICE 2.1. eSIM RESELLING M8 resells eSIMs via the Internet or electronic network. The Customer gets registered and purchases an eSIM on https://m8.tel website and/or via m8tel_bot bot in the Telegram application. The payment is made through payment systems available in the Customer's country by using a bank card. 2.2. SERVICE By providing the Services, M8 renders an information technology support in order to exchange control commands between the Customer and the Provider - eSIM provider in order to initialize the download of the Profile, to activate/deactivate/suspend communication services, to obtain information about the status, traffic costs, etc., as well as customer support. The service allows to significantly automate the delivery of eSIM and requires a minimal human input; the use of information technology is necessary. The service can also include Information and Directory service as well as other adjoining services. In the event that the Provider requires additional identification data to be provided, the Service allows the Customer to transfer such data via https://m8.tel website or the m8tel_bot bot in Telegram application or an M8 partner (for example, a service provider – a hotel, travel agency, courier service, etc.) or other third party identification applications approved by the Provider. In accordance with the local legislation of the country of the Provider, the following information may be required: name, surname or passport data/passport photo, e-mail address or contact telephone number. 2.3. M8 ENGAGEMENTS M8 makes reasonable efforts to ensure the quality and uninterrupted operation of the Service and customer service. However, M8 does not guarantee that the operation of the Service will be provided on time and will be uninterrupted, nor does it guarantee the security and absence of Internet failures. 2.4. CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENTS When using the equipment or the Service provided by M8, the customer is prohibited to perform actions that are offensive, illegal and fraudulent, as well as actions that may lead to deterioration or damage to the services of the Providers; in case the customer violates the obligations under section 2.4, M8 may suspend the use of the Service by the Customer. M8 will notify the Customer of the suspension as soon as possible. During the suspension, the Customer is obliged to pay all the Payments under this Agreement with regard to the suspended Service. 2.5. DEVICE COMPATIBILITY The Customer is responsible to check if their device (mobile phone, tablet, PC, etc.) is compatible with eSIM and is simlock free. When making an eSIM payment, the Customer is responsible for verifying this information. The device compatibility may vary by carrier and country of origin, so the Customer should refer to the list of eSIM compatible devices that can be found at https://m8.tel. The eSIM compatibility list is not exhaustive and may not include some of the newly manufactured and eSIM compatible devices. 3. BEGINNING, DURATION AND TERMINATION OF THE CONTRACT The agreement for the provision of the Service between M8 and the Customer comes into force after registration on the M8 website at https://m8.tel or sending the «/start» command to the m8tel_bot bot via Telegram application. It is the Customer's responsibility to download the eSIM and comply with these terms and conditions. If the Customer does not have an active traffic package or if they remove the eSIM from their device, the contract is considered as terminated. 4. PAYMENT 4.1. TERMS OF PAYMENT M8 service and eSIM are paid through payment systems available for the Customer's country by a bank card. The possible payment currencies depend on the Customer's country – the US dollar ($), the Euro (€), the Russian ruble (₽). The cost of each eSIM includes the M8 services for the provision of the Service, information on the cost is always availabe on the website: https://m8.tel, or can be retrieved through the m8tel_bot bot in the Telegram application. If an eSIM is purchased together with equipment (IoT devices, modem, phone, etc.) or separately, or if an eSIM comes in a form-factor of a plastic card (SIM). the invoice will include the cost of the equipment and the costs of the delivery to the Customer; the invoice can be sent to the Customer at the specified email and then paid by the Customer via a unique link to the payment system form or a bank transfer. 4.2. PAYMENTS 4.2.1. Any M8 payments are subject to all applicable taxes in the Customer's country, unless otherwise stated. 4.2.2. The Customer is not entitled to set off his claims against the M8 claims unless the Customer's claims are disputed or confirmed by a final court decision. 4.2.3. The Customer may pay for the Service in advance. The Customer can check the available advanced payment balance in "Your finances" section of the m8tel_bot bot in the Telegram application. 5. DELIVERY After paying for eSIM, the Customer receives a text message through the m8tel_bot bot in the Telegram application. The information about the availability of eSIM also appears in "Your SIM" section of this bot. 5.1. In the case of purchasing eSIM in an electronic format, the Customer receives a QR code image for installing the eSIM on the device using the m8tel_bot bot in the Telegram application. 5.2. In the case of purchasing an eSIM in the form factor of a plastic card (SIM) or together with the equipment, M8 sends this product via postal delivery or courier service. 6. BONUSES The bonus points of the Service is a reward system in the form of bonus units, which can be equal to the payment unit in the currency of the account (currency of the Customer's country), for certain activities of the Customer or M8 partner. 6.1. The customer or partner may be awarded bonus points (hereinafter - bonuses) for purchases made by following the recommendation of such Customer or partner M8, as well as other actions. 6.2. The customers can use bonuses to buy eSIM or to make other purchases. 6.3. The partner's bonuses can be taken into account when paying remuneration to such a partner. 6.4. The bonuses available on the account cannot be transferred to other forms of money or to another Customer. 7. REFUND, CANCELLATION AND MODIFICATION POLICY If the Customer's device supports eSIM technology, but eSIM cannot be installed and used due to a technical problem on the part of M8, the Customer has the right to request a refund or adjustment. 7.1. The M8 eSIM traffic packages are offered "as is". Once purchased, other adjustments and custom modifications are not possible. The traffic packages have an expiration date. After the expiration date, there is no refund on the remaining traffic in any form. 7.2. An eSIM is "disposable". Once an eSIM is installed by a Customer on a Device, that eSIM is considered as used and cannot be installed on any other Device or be used by another Customer. Once the eSIM is removed from the device, the reinstallation of this eSIM is also not possible. In case of an accidental purchase of an eSIM or a traffic package, refund is not possible. 7.3. A refund request after purchasing an eSIM can be made within seven (7) days from the date of purchase, but only in case the Customer failed to install or activate eSIM on their own and performed a thorough research and troubleshooting on their device, and the further assistance from the M8 support proved unsuccessful. 7.4. . If eSIM is already in use and there is a problem on the M8 side that cannot be resolved in a timely manner, the funds for the remaining traffic can be returned after consulting the Provider. To solve the problem as soon as possible, the cooperation on the Customer’s side is essential, otherwise the refund may not be possible. 7.5. The refunds and compensations of any kind are not provided for payments for other phones, other SIM cards, hotel phones and other payments that are not directly related to M8 and the purchased eSIM (See Section 8). 7.6. M8 reserves the right to refuse any refund if there is evidence of an abuse and violation of our terms and conditions, or other fraudulent activities related to the use of the products and the Service. Such cases will be investigated and verified prior to paying the refunds. M8 reserves the right to suspend the contract and the account associated with the fraudulent activities of any kind. 7.7. Should the Customer justifiably and in good faith disputes an invoice or a part of it, they must notify M8 of such dispute within (5) days of the invoice receipt and provide the details of why the invoiced amount is incorrect and, if possible, what amount should be, according to the Customer (See section 4.2). 7.8. Should a refund request not meet the above-mentioned points, M8 will review it on a case-by-case basis. If a refund is approved, a processing fee may apply. The maximum refundable amount the Customer may apply for must be equal to or less than the disputed amount. 7.9. The Customer's funds received as an advance payment and not used by the Customer to pay for eSIM, devices or the Service can be returned to the Customer upon his request or used by him for the subsequent payments in accordance with section 4.2. M8 may also return funds in the form of bonuses to the Customer’s account (See section 6). 7.10. M8 can apply a refund to the original payment method (bank card or payment system account), in which case, the information about this may reflect in the bank statement within 10 business days after the approval (depending on the bank or payment system). 7.11. The funds for the Customer's purchases paid with bonuses cannot be returned, and the goods can not be replaced. 7.12. Please note that the M8 refund policy described above will apply. Use the referral link specified in the Application or Account or provided by the Company by other means to place it on his/her own Internet resources, sales and service points and/or mailings, for the purposes of recommending the Service, informing about the scope of the Company's activities and opportunities for potential users of the Service; 3.1.2 Use screenshots of the Service pages and materials provided by the Company to inform Referrals about the procedure of interaction with the Service; 3.1.3. Receive куцфквы from the Company in accordance with the terms of this Agreement and the Application; 3.1.4. Receive necessary consultations from the Company on the terms and conditions of his/her obligations under this Agreement; 3.1.5. Provide the Referrals with all necessary information, as well as the terms and conditions of the Service provision; 3.1.6. Perform other actions aimed at inducing potential Referrals to cooperate with the Company, not contradicting the terms of this Agreement. 3.2 Partner undertakes: 3.2.1 Not to perform any actions that may cause the Company to incur any obligations to third parties who are not Referrals; 3.2.2 Act in good faith and solely in the interests of the Company, not to violate the obligations imposed on him by this Agreement; 3.2.3 Not to commit any actions that may damage the Company's business reputation, reduce the level of confidence in the Service or mislead potential Referrals about the Company and the Service; 3.2.4 Contribute to increasing the level of trust of potential Referrals and other persons to the Company and the Service; 3.2.5 In case of identification of situations or persons violating the Company's legal rights and interests or conducting activities to harm the Company's interests, notify the Company and provide possible cooperation to protect the Company and the Service. 3.2.6. Independently update all information regarding the Service, posted by the Company at https://m8.tel and bring to Referrals or potential users of the Service only relevant information regarding the Service. Up-to-date information means the terms and conditions of the Service, prices, as well as other information regarding the Service. 3.3 Partner is prohibited to: 3.3.1 Use Spam of any kind as a tool to attract Referrals; 3.3.2. Place advertisements on websites that contain information violating human rights, promote violence, racial discrimination, drugs, as well as contain other materials contrary to the current legislation of the Georgia, European Union and the United States of America; 3.3.3 Use the Company's trademarks, except for the case defined in clause 3.1.2 of this Agreement. 3.4 The Company undertakes to: 3.4.1. Timely pay to the Partner the reward provided for in the Application. 3.4.2 Provide the Partner with binding instructions and guidelines on the conditions of fulfillment of the obligations, which are the subject of this Agreement, via the website at https://m8.tel, Account or other means. 3.5 The Company has the right: 3.5.1. Exercise control over the Partner's activity in terms of fulfillment of his agency powers provided by this Agreement. 3.5.2. Give instructions and directions to the Partner, which are binding for the latter on the conditions of fulfillment of the duties, which are the subject of this Agreement. 3.5.3 To conclude partnership agreements with any other persons without any restrictions, at its own discretion and on its own terms; 3.5.4. Independently, without any restrictions, carry out activities similar to the Partner's activities under this Agreement in any place and on any territory; 3.5.5 Provide information support and other assistance to the Partner in fulfillment of the terms and conditions of this Agreement; 3.5.6. Unilaterally refuse to fulfill this Agreement without any payments and compensations to the Partner in case of Partner's actions that negatively affect the Company's business reputation, as well as violation of clauses 3.2.6, 3.3.1, 3.3.2, 3.3.3 of this Agreement; 3.5.7 Unilaterally amend the terms and conditions of this Agreement. The said changes come into force from the date of their publication at https://m8.tel or communication to the Partner via the Account, unless otherwise specified in the respective changes. In case the Partner does not agree with such changes, within 30 (thirty) calendar days after the date of receipt of this information or publication of a new version of the Agreement, the Partner shall send a corresponding notice to the Company, otherwise such changes shall be deemed accepted by the Partner. 3.6 The Parties shall bear other rights and obligations provided by this Agreement. 4. Partner's Reward 4.1 The condition of Partner's reward accrual is registration of the Referral by the Partner's referral link in the Service and payment by the Referral for the services specified in the Application. 4.2 The amount of accrued reward for one Referral is limited to 150 (one hundred and fifty) American dollars or the equivalent amount in euros, if the currency of the Partner's accrued reward specified in the Application differs from the currency under this clause. The currency exchange rate is determined according to the internal currency exchange rate of the Service on the day of reward payment. The Partner's reward is accrued simultaneously with the Referral's payment for the Service services specified in the Application, taking into account the current currency exchange rate in the Service at the moment of payment for the currency of payment and the currency specified in the Application. Accrued rewards are reflected in the Partner's Account on the Partner's Bonus Account. If within five calendar days from the moment of accrual of reward in the Partner's Account the Partner does not object in writing to the amount of reward, the accrued amount is considered to be agreed by the Partner. 4.3 Reward is paid to the Partner when the amount of reward reaches not less than 30 (thirty) American dollars after the Partner sends to the Company an act on rendered services and an invoice for payment for services, with obligatory indication of the Partner's Identifier in the Service. Payment is made by transfer to the Partner's bank account specified by him/her in the Application. In case of failure to fulfill the conditions specified in this clause, the reward is not paid until the Partner brings the documents in compliance with the conditions of this clause. 4.4 The Partner is also entitled to spend the accrued rewards on payment for services in the Service in accordance with the User Agreement (Terms of Service Provision posted on the Service page - https://m8.tel) after transferring the funds specified by him to the User's Bonus account. In such a case the relations of the Parties with regard to the use of the Service are regulated by the User Agreement (Terms of Service posted on the Service page - https://m8.tel). 4.5. The Partner undertakes to return to the Company the accrued or paid reward in case the Referral has refused to use the Service or if the funds deposited by the Referral as payment for the Service have been returned to the Referral at his/her request or for other reasons. 5. Dispute resolution and responsibility of the Parties 5.1 The Parties shall be liable for non-performance or improper performance of this Agreement in accordance with the legislation of the country where the Company's legal entity is registered and the terms and conditions of this Agreement. In this case the Company's liability to the Partner in case of claim for compensation of losses, payment of penalties is limited to the amount of 100 (one hundred) American dollars. 5.2 The Company is not responsible for actions of the Partner related to placement and/or sending of a referral link. 5.3 The Company shall not be liable for actions of third parties aimed at violation of information security or normal functioning of the Service, lack of Internet connections, use of software and/or equipment unsuitable for use of the Service, conducting of actions by state and municipal authorities and other organizations as part of operational and investigative measures, establishment of state regulation (or regulation by other organizations) of business activities of a merchant. 5.4. The Partner shall be liable to the Company for breach of the terms and conditions of this Agreement and undertakes to reimburse the Company for losses caused by such breaches in full. 5.5 Neither of the Parties shall be liable for full or partial non-fulfillment of any of their obligations, if non-fulfillment is a consequence of force majeure circumstances arising after the conclusion of the Agreement and beyond the control of the Parties. In case of force majeure for more than thirty days, any Party shall have the right to unilaterally refuse to fulfill its obligations under this Agreement and terminate the Agreement. 5.6 In case of any disputes or disagreements arising out of this Agreement or related to it, the Parties shall take all measures to resolve them with mandatory application of the pre-trial claim procedure. The claim procedure of dispute resolution is mandatory for the Parties. The term of response to the claim is ten calendar days from the date of receipt of the claim by the respective Party. 6. Electronic Document Exchange 6.1 Within the framework of this Agreement the Parties may exchange electronic documents. The Parties shall independently follow the changes in the current legislation of the country where the Company's legal entity is registered and undertake to ensure technical possibility of application of such provisions. 6.2 Electronic documents (formalized and non-formalized) exchanged between the Parties to this Agreement shall be sent from the email addresses specified for the Company and Partner in the Application for participation in the referral program M8. 6.3 The Parties have agreed that this Agreement, acts, invoices and other documents, including information letters, sent to each of the Parties within the framework of execution of this Agreement shall be equivalent to receipt of documents on paper and shall entail corresponding legal consequences for the Parties. Such documents shall be accepted by the Parties as a primary accounting document, may be used as evidence in court proceedings, submitted to state authorities upon their request. 6.4 Each of the Parties shall be responsible ensuring confidentiality and keeping their email passwords secure. 7. Other terms and conditions 7.1 This Agreement comes into force from the date of signing by the Partner and acceptance of the Application by the Company until the parties fulfill their obligations in full. 7.2. By agreeing and accepting the terms of this offer by means of its acceptance, the Partner guarantees that he concludes this Agreement voluntarily, has familiarized himself with all its terms and accepts them, has all rights and powers necessary for conclusion and execution of this Agreement. The Partner also confirms that he is aware of the type of the Company's activity, in respect of which this Agreement is concluded, its legal aspects and possible risks arising in connection with this condition. 7.3 This Agreement may be terminated in the case stipulated in clause 3.5.6 hereof. 3.5.6 of this Agreement, by agreement of the Parties, as well as on the initiative of either Party, if it sends a notice to the other Party in writing 30 (thirty) calendar days prior to the date of termination of the Agreement or in the manner provided by Section 6 of this Agreement. 7.4 The Parties consider any information related to the execution of this Agreement as a commercial secret and undertake to strictly keep confidential the nature of such information, not disclosing it to third parties, except when it is necessary for the purposes of the Agreement or for disclosure to the relevant state authorities in cases determined by the law of the country in which the Company's legal entity is registered. The said provision does not apply to publicly known or publicly available information. 7.5 Each of the Parties undertakes to ensure confidentiality of information about the Identifier, means of identification, authentication in the Service, as well as identifiers used by it to obtain access rights (login, password, etc.) to its own e-mail. Each of the Parties independently bears any risks and consequences arising from the disclosure, distribution or misuse of the above confidential information caused by the fault (including negligence) of such Party, its employees and/or representatives who had access to such information.
