About the "Mate" status

About the “Mate” status This status is part of the M8 loyalty program, provides additional features and applies in addition to the basic Terms of Service. Due to the fact that eSIM is a new term for many, and technological capabilities and the level of network development in some countries do not always allow for a uniform approach to the provision of the Service, we are ready to offer this status only to those who have a positive experience using M8 and are willing to share it with their friends. Read this description carefully. Actions aimed at obtaining and using the “Mate” status mean your consent to these terms and limitations of capabilities. Conditions for obtaining the “Mate” status 1. Having an active SIM or eSIM. This condition implies that you have a successful experience using an M8 SIM card, namely the experience and understanding that for the SIM card to work successfully, your phone settings must allow it to function correctly. The condition is checked and applied to your account automatically. 2. Having authorization in the account by email and simultaneously via messenger (or synchronization of several such accounts). This condition implies that you always have alternative access to your personal account on our website (or in mobile applications for ios, android) with authorization via email, which is not blocked in certain countries, as well as the ability to contact technical support via one of the messengers in case of questions. The condition is checked and applied to your account automatically. 3. Two friends invited to M8. This condition implies that you are willing to recommend us to your loved ones, and we can count on mutual respect and a friendly attitude from your side. To fulfill the condition, click the Invite a friend button in your personal account and follow the instructions. Opportunities with the “Mate” status 1. Changing countries and networks for some of your SIMs and eSIMs. We use several types of SIM cards that can be used in different countries or groups of countries where we have a presence. Technological capabilities and commercial relationships with networks in different countries differ from each other, therefore the cost of providing the service may vary significantly on different SIM cards and networks. When selecting a country, network and traffic volume in the Store section, you will be provided with information on whether your existing SIM can be used on this network and at this price. If you have a SIM, but after the above actions it does not appear in the list of available SIM cards in the Store section, then this SIM cannot be used on this network due to technological or financial conditions. Using the same principle, you can check the possibility of using your existing SIM to work on other networks by selecting them in the Store. If you are not satisfied with the price at which you can use your existing SIM in a particular country and on a particular network, but you want to continue using M8 in this country, you will need to purchase a new M8 SIM that will be intended for that particular country, network and at the specified price. 2. Refund of unused traffic. If the package term has not yet expired and you have unused traffic left by the end of your trip, you can return it in the form of bonuses - to the bonus account of your personal account. These bonuses can be used to pay for any other services and SIMs in M8, but under no circumstances can they be withdrawn or received in the form of cash. The number of bonuses you can receive for the remaining traffic will be calculated and shown to you before confirming your consent to write off the balance from the SIM card. This amount takes into account the lowest current cost of traffic (cost for the largest package) for your SIM and may differ from the price at which you purchased and activated the initial traffic volume. If you are not satisfied with the calculated number of bonuses, you can only spend the remaining traffic in accordance with the original terms for your package. 3. Unlimited SIM card life. Since maintaining the SIM card in an active state requires additional costs from us for technological resources and mutual settlements with networks in countries where you can use M8 SIM cards, the usual terms provide for blocking the SIM card after a certain period. If technically possible, the standard conditions for blocking SIM cards for a user with “Mate” status do not apply and you will be able to use the SIM card for as long as technological capabilities and contractual relations with partner operators allow us. 4. Providing the ability to use an IP address. If in another country you have difficulty accessing resources (websites, applications, services) in your own country, you can use a private network service with Internet access from a specific IP address (a technology commonly called VPN). This service is provided by us "as is", free of charge if you have the “Mate” status, and we do not guarantee its uninterrupted operation due to the fact that these services may be blocked by supervisory state authorities. We do not provide this as a classic VPN service, it is not a replacement for VPN and is not intended for constant use. This option is provided by us solely for the purpose of enabling you to gain short-term access to resources from another country or to contact technical support, if such resources or the messenger you want to use to contact technical support are blocked in the country you are visiting with our SIM card. The provision of this service may be terminated for you without additional notice in case of abuse detection or by decision of the regulatory authorities of your country. These terms and conditions may be changed by publishing them on this page, without additional notice to users.
